Can I accrue CPD hours/points with MHA courses?

Yes. All MHA courses include a mandatory, online (multiple-choice) assessment. Upon completion of the assessment, you will be able to access a CPD Certificate* highlighting your achievement – this Certificate can be used as evidence to accrue CPD hours/OPD points. Mental Health Professionals who can accrue CPD hours/points through MHA include counsellors, social workers, psychologists, community workers, mental health nurses, and more.

Below is additional information relevant to specific professions:

  • Counsellors: Members of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) accrue 5 OPD points upon completion of MHA courses ranging from 1-6 hours in duration; and 10 OPD points for courses longer than 6 hours. PACFA members accrue 1 "Category B" CPD hour per hour duration.
  • Social Workers: Social workers – including AMHSW’s and AASW members – accrue 1 CPD hour per hour duration.
  • Registered Psychologists: Registered psychologists, including AAPi and APS members, accrue up to 1 "Active CPD" hour per hour duration.
  • Community Workers: Australian Community Workers Association (ACWA) members accrue 1 CPD hour per hour duration.
  • Mental Health Nurses: Mental health nurses and members of the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN) can accrue 1 CPD hour per hour duration.
  • General Practitioners: GPs may be able to apply through the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) under the Unaccredited Category 2 application for QI&CPD points.
  • Occupational Therapists: OTs and members of Occupational Therapy Australia accrue 1 CPD hour per hour duration.
